A meandering rocky path leading down to the beach provided inspiration for this residential compound set atop a coastal bluff. We stripped down existing structures and reclad them in materials chosen to weather the harsh elements and patina over time. Parged rubble stone walls reference the pebbly beach below and anchor the structures to the sloping site. Vertical wood cladding and heavy timber trellises add a warm counterpoint, with wood framed windows capturing expansive ocean views. We were fortunate to collaborate with Ground Studio Landscapes on this project to create a home where family and friends can gather and enjoy time together, with the rugged California coast as the backdrop.
